Katherine McClelland is the Director of Education and Workforce initiatives, where she leads work partnering with education institutions, certification partners, and employers to strengthen manufacturing talent pipelines by leveraging best practices and policies at the regional, state, and national levels. She also works on the development of a national education data system that will integrate education, certification, and labor market data to deliver outcome information on education programs.  Her research for The Institute has focused on innovative state-level policies that promote and award the use of industry-based credentials, work-based learning, and dual enrollment at the secondary and post-secondary levels, encouraging replication in other states.

Prior to joining the Manufacturing Institute, Katherine worked at Lumina Foundation, in the U.S. House of Representatives for Congressman George Miller and the Committee on Education & the Workforce, and served in AmeriCorps VISTA in the Minneapolis Public Schools and AchieveMPLS.

She earned her Master of Public Policy degree at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University with a focus on Higher Education & Workforce Development and earned a B.A. in History and Political Science at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN.
