The four largest manufacturing industries —- chemical products; computers and electronic products; food, beverages, and tobacco; and petroleum and coal products -— account for about 50 percent of manufacturing GDP.  Chemical products has seen strong growth in the last several years, driven by cheap energy prices in the U.S. and the resulting resurgence in U.S. manufacturing.
