WASHINGTON, -  The Manufacturing Institute is pleased to announce that the 2018 STEP Ahead Award nominations are open.

The STEP Ahead initiative was designed to showcase the impact of women in manufacturing to help attract and retain the talent manufacturers need to succeed. This national honor identifies the best of the best women in manufacturing, and further encourages women to mentor and support the next generation of female talent to pursue manufacturing careers.

The 2018 STEP Ahead Awards will be the sixth anniversary of STEP Ahead, having honored 672 women that are making a difference in their companies and communities. According to a survey conducted by Deloitte and The Manufacturing Institute, since its inception, STEP Ahead Award winners have impacted more than 300,000 individuals, from peers in the industry to school-age children.

“The STEP Ahead Awards is an incredible way to showcase the amazing career opportunities available in manufacturing; from engineering to marketing, there’s a place for everyone in this industry,” said Carolyn Lee, executive director of The Manufacturing Institute. “The women honored with this award are the leaders that help manufacturing in the U.S. succeed and ensure future growth.”

In 2018, the Institute will honor 100 women and 30 Emerging Leaders, a category introduced to honor women under the age of 30 who have achieved unique accomplishments at the start of their careers.
