Washington, DC, -  The Manufacturing Institute President Jennifer McNelly traveled to Arizona in support of Manufacturing Month. She will be attending two events – the Arizona Advanced Manufacturing Institute’s (AzAMI) Manufacturing Month Celebration at Mesa Community College on October 7 and the Arizona Manufacturing Partnership event at Pima County One Stop and Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona on October 8.

The AzAMI event was an open house event at Mesa Community College offering the opportunity to tour enhanced machining, processing and additive manufacturing labs and explore offered programs as well.  The event took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Following this event, McNelly moderated a panel discussion hosted by Western Maricopa Education Center (West-MEC), in partnership with SUMCO Phoenix Corporation, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. The panel featured AMP leadership and allies of West-MEC to discuss ways to serve Arizona's manufacturing sector. Following the panel discussion, there was a tour of the facility.

In Tucson, McNelly will visit Pima County One Stop and Pima Community College to launch Get Skills to Work in Arizona and visit their Machining Program and Veterans Center.

Arizona, along with many other U.S. states, recognizes October as Manufacturing Month.  Manufacturing Month helps bring awareness to the industry and the critical contribution it makes to the United States’ economic prosperity.
