WASHINGTON, DC, -  The Manufacturing Institute is pleased to announce that 160 institutions across the country have been selected for the M-List, an important step to closing the manufacturing skills gap.

The M-List recognizes high schools, community colleges, and universities that are teaching manufacturing students to industry standards. Specifically, these institutions offer students the opportunity to earn NAM-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certifications as a standard part of their manufacturing education programs.

Manufacturing is facing a serious skills gap issue. More than 82 percent of manufacturers report a moderate or serious shortage in skilled production workers. And more than 75 percent of manufacturers say the skill shortage has negatively impacted their ability to expand. Educators on the M-List are helping to improve the skills gap issue by teaching manufacturing to industry standards and allowing for students to develop a strong manufacturing career pathway to build the industry talent pipeline.
