Davidson, NC, -  Today, The Manufacturing Institute received a $135,000 multi-year grant from Ingersoll Rand Charitable Foundation. The grant will be used to create a leadership development program for women in 2015 as part of their Science, Technology, Engineering and Production (STEP) Ahead Initiative, which promotes the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research and leadership.

Specifically, the funds will be used to develop a leadership program for 30 women in manufacturing and develop networking and mentoring capabilities. This program will improve the need to increase the number of women leaders in the U.S. manufacturing industry.

The Institute and the STEP Ahead Initiative supports Ingersoll Rand’s commitment to diversity and workforce needs. By expanding leadership opportunities for women in manufacturing, this grant will contribute to the economic advancement of women and creating a viable pipeline of women manufacturers.
