Washington, DC, -  Today, the Institute released a new employer spotlight on Alamo Academies.

Alamo Academies was created to address the critical skills gap faced by San Antonio manufacturers. Alamo Colleges partnered with manufacturers, business associations, and high schools to provide education tailored to manufacturing needs. This collaborative effort provides a program free to students to encourage manufacturing careers while providing meaningful higher education. Students begin dual enrollment during their junior year and graduate high school with over 30 college credits. The rigorous academic environment is paired with real-world encounters during paid summer internships between the student’s junior and senior year.

Program graduates earn a Level I Program Certificate, making them eligible contenders for a variety of jobs immediately after high school. The program has seen over 1,000 manufacturing certifications earned and a graduation rate 27 times higher than the state average.
