Washington, DC, -  Today, President Obama announced $600 million in competitive grants for skills training and apprenticeship programs to help people land good-paying jobs.

Darlene Miller, President and CEO of Permac Industries as well as supporter of the Institute's Right Skills Now, said, "As an employer, I am always excited to hear there will be federal dollars spent on skills training. But I have a concern when there are so many different training programs out there...We need to utilize the ones that are actually working.”  Darlene's support of Right Skills Now and the Skills Certification System has been instrumental in it's success.

The Institute's Skills Certification System is one that is "actually working."  Over the past year, the certification partners have issued 117,189, an increase of over 30 percent, bringing the total to 294,478 certifications issued since 2011.  The certifications align manufacturing education to industry standards and create transparency for manufacturers.
