Washington, DC, -  Today, the Get Skills to Work coalition, along with Futures, Inc, will host a manufacturing-only hiring event for transitioning military personnel at Fort Drum, NY. More than 142 veterans will be pre-screened and matched with more than 200 specific job openings from 25 participating companies will arrive with a list of candidates whose skills most closely match their job openings.

“We are creating real opportunities for transitioning military to access in-demand manufacturing jobs,” said Jennifer McNelly, president, The Manufacturing Institute.

More than 300 manufacturers have joined the Get Skills to Work coalition, focusing on skills training for U.S. veterans and translating those skills into manufacturing careers. This coalition, which The Manufacturing Institute launched with GE, Alcoa, Boeing and Lockheed Martin last October, also works with employers to recruit, onboard and mentor veterans in their industry.
