Washington, DC, -  Institute Vice President Gardner Carrick moderated a panel today at the Aspen Institute titled The Skills Gap in Manufacturing.  The panel included Institute Trustee Craig Giffi from Deloitte, Institute Trustee Dr. Tim Welsh from the University of Phoenix, Dr. Theresa Maldonado, Director of the Engineering Education Division at the National Science Foundation, and Ann Randazzo, Executive Director of the Center for Energy Workforce Development.  The panel covered the state of the skills gap, reviewed several solutions to attracting a wider group of individuals to manufacturing, and discussed the similarity of challenges facing other industries related to manufacturing.  Approximately 75 people attended the luncheon event.
