Dalton, GA, -  Institute Vice President Gardner Carrick gave the keynote address at the Dalton, GA Chamber of Commerce luncheon on trends in the manufacturing industry.  Carrick spoke about the renaissance in U.S. manufacturing and the need for a highly skilled workforce to support the growth of the industry.  Dalton, GA has a strong manufacturing economy, considered by many to be the carpet manufacturing capital of the country.  Over 50 community, business, and education leaders attended the event. 

Earlier that morning, Carrick was the guest lecturer at the Dalton State College Business Ethics class.  Over 60 students attended the class where Carrick spoke about the manufacturing sector and engaged the students in some of the ethical questions that face manufacturers as they decide where to locate operations and how to deal with a large and diverse workforce.
