Schnecksville, PA, -  Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett announced a new program to expand the number of students entering manufacturing education programs in Northeast Pennsylvania.  The program is called "Skill Up" and was proposed by the Da Vinci Science Center, Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, the Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, and the Manufacturers Resource Center in collaboration with area school districts, career and technical schools, community colleges, and local manufacturers.

As part of this initiative, Lehigh Career and Technical Institute is now offering Right Skills Now, the Institute's accelerated machining training program, and Northeast Pennsylvania will be the newest site to participate in the Institute's Dream It. Do It. program. 

Over 60 people attended the ceremony at Lehigh Career and Technical Insitute including the Institute's Communications Director, Jacey Wilkins, and Communciations Associate, Nick D'Antonio.  During his remarks, Governor Corbett discussed the importance of manufacturing to the Pennsylvania economy and stated that finding talent is the greatest challenge facing the industry.
