-  The American Welding Society (AWS) will host the 30th annual National Robotic Arc Welding Conference on June 4 and 5, 2013 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Other partners include the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association and the Milwaukee Area Technical College.  The three day event will feature industry leaders in manufacturing presenting real-world innovations used to make their automation projects successful.  All proceeds from the conference go to the John F. Hinrichs Memorial Endowment, which provides scholarships for students in welding and engineering.  Institute president Jennifer McNelly will keynote the event on June 4.

A familiar face is helping to lead the event. Karen Gilgenbach, a Weld Process Specialist at Airgas USA, is organizing the conference as part of her work with AWS.  Gilgenbach was an honoree at this year’s Women in Manufacturing STEP Awards.  The 2013 STEP Awards honored 122 women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Production.
