Lisle, IL, -  Institute President Jennifer McNelly was the keynote speaker at the 2013 Valley Industrial Association Spring Luncheon. The event was presented by Bison Gear and Engineering and the Illinois Manufacturers Association Education Foundation. Opening introductions were given by Sylvia Wetzel, Chief Learning Officer for Bison Gear and Engineering, considered a leading employer champion in the state.

McNelly addressed the sold out luncheon of manufacturers regarding the extent of the skills gap on a nationwide basis. For manufacturing to succeed the nation needs to strive for a policy climate that allows growth and better access to world class talent. Solutions included Dream It. Do It. efforts lead by the Illinois Manufacturers Association (IMA) and the NAM Endorsed Skills Certification System. The luncheon concluded with an overview of local activities and partnerships with IMA leading efforts across the state.
