Peoria, IL, -  Institute Vice President Gardner Carrick delivered the keynote address to the Illinois Rural Community Economic Development Conference today in Peoria, IL.  The speech focused on the future of the manufacturing in the U.S. and the Midwest, the possible resurgence of U.S. manufacturing, and the implications for manufacturing workforce.  The conference was attended by over 150 economic development professionals, elected officials, and education staff.  
 
Mr. Carrick also conducted two breakout sessions following the keynote address in which he focused on the Institute's solutions around the attraction and qualification of manufacturing talent.  The overall conference was sponsored by the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs and Mr. Carrick's keynote was specifically sponsored by Ameren
