Milwaukee, WI, -  Institute Vice President Gardner Carrick participated in the Manpower Industry Challenge Council today at the headquarters of ManpowerGroup in Milwaukee, WI.  The Council included 20 leaders from large and small U.S. manufacturing firms, education institutions, and trade associations.  The meeting was titled "The Future of the Manufacturing Workforce" and focused on the development of big ideas and concrete solutions to manufacturing's workforce challenges.  Joining Carrick at the Council were Institute trustees Eric Isbister from GenMet and Becca Dernberger from Manpower. 

The occasion for the Council meeting was the release of "The Future of the Manufacturing Workforce" report by Thomas Davenport from Harvard Business School.  The Institute's research was used in the report and the Skills Certification System was highlighted as a model solution.
