EWI to Host Workshop: Applying ICME to Solve Manufacturing Challenges- Sepetember 5th, 2012
The Edison Welding Institute (EWI)
is hosting a technical workshop focused on computational approaches to joining and allied technology. The workshop, a project hosted by EWI partnered with The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society, will focus on an emerging discipline known as Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) . ICME can ‘accelerate materials development and unify design and manufacturing'. The event will take place at EWI’s headquarters in Columbus, Ohio on September 19-20, 2012.
The workshop will bring in speakers from Ohio State University, the Naval Research Laboratory, Caterpillar, ExxonMobil and more. Besides education on ICME, attendees will participate in dialogues focused on issues within the manufacturing industry and how ICME can be a potential solution. Topic areas for presentations will include welding processes, microstructural modeling during joining and additive manufacturing.
EWI works to develop manufacturing technology that furthers the industry. The organization has nearly 1200 members that are provided with research, support and strategic services.
