-   Illinois Manufacturers Association (IMA) announced at a press conference in Chicago that the Association’s Education Foundation had been awarded a $430,000 grant. The grant, awarded by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, will be used for the state’s Manufacturing STEM Learning Exchange. The exchange intends on implementing ‘a pathway of study designed to create a pipeline of workers with the skills needed in today’s advanced manufacturing environment'.

“We’re very pleased the Quinn Administration has again turned to the IMA, and in particular our education foundation, to lead a broad coalition of manufacturers, educators and policy makers,” said IMA President & CEO Greg Baise. “Manufacturers universally report severe problems in obtaining workers with the right skills, and the Manufacturers Education Initiative will go a long way to cure the problem.”

The Manufacturing Institute would like to congratulate IMA’s Education Foundation and wishes them the best of luck with the Manufacturing STEM Learning Exchange.
