State College, PA, -  Institute Vice President Gardner Carrick presented to the Pennsylvania Association of Workforce Investment Boards at their two-day annual Symposium in State College, PA.  The event included a panel with Institute Partner Neil Reddy from MSSC, Institute supporter Alcoa, and representatives from Team PA and the Pennsylvainia Governor's cabinet where manufacturing was highlighted as a critical industry for the Commonwealth and a source of many job opportunities.

Gardner Carrick also participated in a pre-conference session in which representatives from the 14 community colleges in the Commonwealth reviewed their projects and accomplishments under a $20 million TAACCCT grant awarded to the state last fall.  That grant is focused on building industrial maintenance programs in each of the community colleges and Institute partner PMMI and their mechatronics certification is playing a role in that progam.
