Buffalo, NY, -  The Western New York Regional Economic Development Council, the organization that overlooks Dream It. Do It. activities for the state of New York, announced Tuesday that it has received a $500,000 grant from Governor Andrew Cuomo to continue expansion in Western New York. The grant is a part of the Governor’s Regional Council initiative to promote advanced manufacturing across the state. Dream It. Do It. currently operates in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties and will now expand into Erie and Niagara County.

The Institute’s Director of Communications, Jacey Wilkins, was on hand for the announcement.

“We have heard from manufacturers throughout the United States about their challenges in finding the workforce that meets their needs,” Wilkins said. “In response, the Manufacturing Institute started the Dream It. Do It. initiative to engage, educate and employ the next generation of manufacturing talent.

Todd Tranum, director of New York’s Dream It. Do It. program, praised the work of DIDI across the state.

“Dream It Do It is yet another example of how a private-public-educational partnership can be successful. Working together we are getting positive results. We are excited to be part of a partnership of stakeholders working together to expand this initiative to support manufacturers throughout the Western New York region.”

Dream It. Do It. has established programs in over twenty states and continues to expand across the country.
