Philadelphia, PA, -  Institute Vice President Gardner Carrick participated on a panel today at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Leadership Meeting in Philadelphia, PA.  The panel focused on the revival of manufacturing in the United States, the challenges that manufacturers face, and the role that mayors and local officials can play in helping companies meet those challenges.  The lack of a skilled workforce was specifically identified as a major challenge for manufacturers and the opportunity for mayors to lead partnerships between companies and the education system including community colleges was highlighted.

Joining Gardner Carrick on the panel were NIST Director Dr. Pat Gallagher, NSF Assitant Director Dr. Tom Peterson, Brookings Institution Director of Strategic Partnership Marek Gootman, AgustaWestland Executive Vice President Bill Hunt, and Intellistreets CEO Ron Harwood.
