-  Jennifer McNelly, President of the Institute, gave the keynote address at the North Carolina Chamber Manufacturing Summit today.  McNelly discussed how to address the skills gap in manufacturing, particularly in the state of North Carolina.  As the skills gap crisis continues to expand across the United States, McNelly stressed that North Carolina has the opportunity to emerge as a leader in challenging the problem and finding a solution.  She urged manufacturers to use certifications in their hiring processes, connect with community colleges to ensure they are developing the talent pipeline so desperately needed, and to work with Dream It. Do It. and other programs to attract youth into manufacturing careers.
