Columbus, OH, -  Executives from over 20 leading manufacturers joined the Institute and EWI for a Manufacturing Innovation Summit at EWI Headquarters.  The purpose was to gain support for the EWI and Institute proposal to develop a network of manufacturing application centers focused on application of next generation manufacturing technologies.

These application centers would each be advised by an industry consortium to direct its activities only on those technologies that have industry-wide impact and can be commercialized in the near-term.  In technology readiness level terms, these application centers would focus on approximately TRL 3-7 as a way of moving basic research through the development and innovation phases into commercialization.

A complete paper and recommendations resulting from the Summit will be issued shortly.  A follow-up Summit with participants from government agencies is planned for this winter.

Watch the Application Centers section of our website for additional updates.
