-  Today, Manufacturing Institute president Emily DeRocco was a guest on the Diane Rehm National Public Radio show in a segment entitled "U.S. Manufacturing and Engineering Worforce."  DeRocco was joined by Gary Green, president, Forsyth Technical Community College, Byron Aguste, senior partner, McKinsey & Company, and Michael Davidson, senior analyst, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.  Participants spoke to the skills gap in manufacturing and engineering as good jobs continue to go unfilled.  DeRocco explained the manufacturing industry's flagship education intiative, The NAM-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System, to help solve the skills gap and pipeline crisis.  All participants highlighted the importance of nationally portable, industry-recognized certifications to give the current and future manufacturing workforce skills and post-secondary credentials that have real economic value.
