-  The Institute conducts monthly webinars with state education, economic development, and industry leaders focused on implementing the Skills Certification System. The Community of Learners webinars allow participants to learn from their peers, stay abreast of national initiatives and opportunities, and share challenges and solutions for success.

The Manufacturing Institute held the fifth Community of Learners webinar on May 25, 2011.  Institute partners from Conexus Indiana, the Community Education Coalition, and Ivy Tech Community College who are leading efforts to implement the NAM- Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System throughout Indiana with support from the Lumina Foundation for Education, led a discussion on engaging employer support for industry recognized credentials from state, regional and local perspectives.

Indiana is a national model for manufacturing education and was an early adopter of the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council’s Certified Production Technical credential.  The state is well positioned to expand deployment of the NAM-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System.  Indiana is also a leader in Dream It. Do It., engaging young people into careers in manufacturing and linking them to the education necessary to gain employment in high-quality advanced manufacturing careers.
