“Manufacturing transforms imagination into reality and is the single most important driver of economic growth. Manufacturing brings people together, giving them the opportunity to use their talents and push boundaries, while providing personal, professional and financial rewards. There are few industries that are as exciting or as impactful as manufacturing!”

Joan Schatz has more than 25 years of leadership experience in businesses ranging from manufacturing to financial services to web-based software. As Co-President of Park Industries, the largest manufacturer of stoneworking equipment in North America, Joan’s leadership has been integral to the company’s success. She helped Park successfully navigate the U.S. Housing Market Crash in 2007, and today, has led the company to grow more than 300 percent over the last five years. Joan’s innovative ideas and desire for community involvement are core to Park’s strategy and continued growth.

Joan has played a monumental role in structuring Park for growth today and in the future. Following significant expansions, Joan has planned for expanded capacity, updated technology and prepared the company to have the financial strength to withstand an everchanging economy. While operating at the high level of Co-President, Joan personally knows every Park associate by name and empowers all to voice their questions and concerns to her. Joan truly cares about the success of each individual and helps associates feel valued in their roles as professionals and as people.

She actively promotes manufacturing and careers in manufacturing in Central Minnesota. Joan has advocated for women in STEM careers through her involvement in many initiatives, committees and boards. As a mentor for the Women in Stone program, Joan went above and beyond for the development and growth of her mentee. Joan also created and launched the concept of “Manufacturing on the Road,” which joined 14 local manufacturers to showcase industry opportunities to more than 1,000 high school students.

Joan’s impact spans beyond her role with Park Industries. She has served on a variety of community boards and is a frequent speaker on leadership issues for an array of local and national groups. In addition to supporting VEX robotics teams, Joan supports Park’s involvement in the National Association of Manufacturers’ State of Manufacturing Tour, which inspires and educates the community on the innovation of modern manufacturing.
