Debra Leach
Senior Director, Procurement
GLOBALFOUNDRIES
Malta, NY

“I am passionate about manufacturing because manufacturing is all about working with and developing people. Manufacturing has provided me the environment to grow through teamwork with others. I am continually amazed at the innovation of manufacturing teams when they are empowered and enabled.”

Over the course of her career, Deb has held leadership roles in GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ three fabs along the Northeast Tech Corridor. Deb has a long track record of delivering manufacturing yield over several technology nodes and fab facilities. She is the recipient of multiple corporate-level outstanding technical achievement awards for contributions in introducing technology to manufacturing, and also received a corporate environmental affairs excellence award for reducing usage of multiple potentially harmful materials.

Deb’s teams excel under her leadership because of her exceptional ability to relate business unit goals to individual goal achievement, her talent for coaching managers on leadership and technical execution, and her ability to drive cross-functional execution of results.

As a key leader for Fab 8’s women’s network, Deb has been overseeing a team of women to create and deliver events on-site in technical leadership, mentoring, and work-life balance. Eight events were held in 2015, and Deb is currently developing a Leadership Speaker Series which will include C-Suite women from both suppliers and clients. Recently, she organized a Speed Mentoring event, which attracted more than 50 participants from four GLOBALFOUNDRIES sites and 25 Speed Mentors.

As a complement to this effort, Deb has been driving GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ participation in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Locally, she has assisted in generating corporate support for regional SWE events, including a Collegiate Leadership Summit at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the kick-off of the Region F Leadership Development Series. At the national level, Deb is raising awareness for the role of women in manufacturing at SWE’s annual conference, SWE15, where she will be delivering a speech on leadership and participating in a panel on professional development.
