Marcia Kull
Vice President, Marine Sales - North America
Volvo Penta of the Americas
Chesapeake, VA

"Our marine and industrial engines create exceptional experiences for people in recreation and at work. And our products continuously evolve. In my 10-year experience at Volvo Penta, we have dramatically improved boat performance while reducing environmental impact. Our goal is easy boating through safety, quality and care for the environment.”

Marcia’s primary responsibility is generating sales in a competitive territory that covers Canada to Panama and the Caribbean, but she is known at Volvo Penta as a positive change agent – one who is not afraid to seize the moment and mix things up when change is needed most.
Before she began working in the marine engine sales division in 2011, Marcia was the company’s general counsel and before that vice president of dealer and consumer relations. Ron Huibers, president of Volvo Penta of the Americas, says, “She has demonstrated great tenacity and courage as she took on this new assignment in 2011, and that has allowed her to make considerable progress and help her teams succeed and meet new performance levels.”
Marcia has participated in the formal mentorship program, as well as informally mentoring team members. She is a Certified Volvo Diversity and Inclusive Leadership Trainer, conducting seminars for other leaders to help develop the awareness, knowledge and skills required to be an inclusive leader and build a global organization. Marcia also accepted an invitation from the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association (NMMA) president to provide formal mentoring support to young professional women within the organization.
Throughout her more than 25-year career in the marine industry, Marcia has been involved in industry and governmental organizations that serve the national marine community. She is a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association and currently chairs their Engine Manufacturers Division. In 2007, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security appointed Marcia to serve as one of seven manufacturer representatives to the National Boating Safety Advisory Council to the U.S. Coast Guard.  She was re-appointed in 2010 and completed her second term in 2014.
