Janette Hostettler
General Manager Paint, Plastics & Plant Engineering
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana Inc.
Princeton, IN

“My parents, immigrants from the Philippines, inspired me to work hard and always be passionate about things that excited me. People, numbers and tinkering were things that excited me. The manufacturing world takes these three items and creates a world of innovation and inspiration for myself and those around me.”

Janette began with Toyota as a specialist in quality engineering and has advanced through the organization to her current position of General Manager of Paint, Plastics and Plant Engineering. Throughout her career she has been recognized not just for her technical knowledge and skills, but also for her concern for her team and their development.

Janette demonstrated her commitment to team development when she designed and standardized training for all members of the Quality Control group. In her role as the regional paint shop self-reliance lead for people development, she implemented a standardized engineering training curriculum across North America. At the crux of all of Janette's accomplishments is her ability to develop people and lead them to be successful.

Janette is also leading the Paint, Plastics and Plant Engineering departments through developing a five-year plan. With her strategic thinking and clear setting of expectations, she is a significant part of the company’s plans to become more competitive for the future. Additionally, Janette leads the company’s Diversity Advisory Council, developing mechanisms to retain current team members and attract new ones.

Because of her passion for developing others, Janette serves in many mentorship capacities. She has an active role in the annual Toyota Women’s Leadership Conference and was responsible for the startup of the Young Professionals Association, an internal business group aimed at the development and success of our future workforce.

Janette shares her passions and talents with the community in a variety of efforts.  She is on the Boards of Directors for both The Lampion Center, benefiting children and families, and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. She also serves on the board for Society of Women Engineers.
