Megan Benadum
AAP Commercial Aerospace & Defense Product Engineer
Alcoa Inc.
Bettendorf, IA

“Manufacturing produces products that enhance people's everyday lives and advance societies. It provides good jobs at various skill levels for communities and helps the local, state, and national economies. Manufacturing facilities have a lot of opportunities and varying career paths.”

Megan Benadum has been with Alcoa for fewer than five years, but has demonstrated outstanding leadership as she’s taken on progressively responsible roles.  In her current role as the AAP Commercial Aerospace and Defense Product Engineer, Megan uses her leadership and technical skills to manage a multi-million dollar budget and oversees projects involving Aerospace and Defense New Product Development at locations around the world. She is also active in Alcoa’s Employee Resource Groups – Alcoa’s Women’s Network and New Professionals Network.

Megan has a passion for helping tomorrow’s leaders in the engineering world and volunteers in several capacities to that end. She has been an intern mentor or supervisor within Alcoa for the past three years, and she is a teacher for Junior Achievement of the Quad Cities. She believes that the earlier students learn about career opportunities in the manufacturing industry, the more chances they will have to shape their education to meet the growing demands of the rewarding field.

Megan is active within the greater community as well, participating in Habitat for Humanity, local animal shelters, and a range of charity races. She is in University of Iowa’s Master of Business Administration Program for Professionals and Managers and is part of the Student Advisory Board where she helps organize events for current UI MBA students.
