Carol Jackson
Former Vice President
Carpenter Technology

Reading, PA

“I’m most proud of the role I’ve played, small or large, in the success of people who’ve worked with me over the years. In the end, I want to be able to look back and know that I had some part in helping
them become the person they wanted to be.”

Carol’s love for the art of the deal dates back to her leadership of a high school Junior Achievement company.  Now, decades later, she attributes her continued success to hard work, network-building, and openness to new challenges.  Over her career, Carol’s done business in every major world region and she’s negotiated multi-million dollar contracts on both sides of the table.

Carol thinks about her career in terms of skills acquisition rather than simply accomplishments.  She credits mentors with encouraging her to pursue diverse opportunities that enabled her to enhance her talents and build expertise.   Over twelve years at PPG, Carol worked in four divisions, as well as, a corporate managing director position performing roles with progressively more responsibility in a wide range of industries.  She used her business acumen coupled with her legal skills (she’s also a licensed attorney) to turnaround distressed businesses and build strategic joint ventures.  In fact, the lure of running a business was what drew Carol to Carpenter Technology two years ago.  There she served as an officer of the corporation with P&L responsibility of over $700 million in sales revenues.

Carol is passionate about sharing her expertise not only with her business associates but also within the community through her efforts with the United Way and Carnegie Mellon where she lectures occasionally and is a resource and inspiration to students considering a range of careers.
