Heather Macholan
Corporate Director of Quality Systems
Behlen Manufacturing Co.
Columbus, NE

“Individuals considering manufacturing as a career should have the skin of a rhino, possess the ability to think on their feet and love the challenge of change.  Manufacturing careers allow individuals to master their technical, personal, and organizational skills all before the first cup of coffee in the morning.”

Heather is responsible for a companywide quality system encompassing four plants, three business units and a dedicated trucking company.  Heather’s responsibilities range from system implementation to continuous improvement and quality system auditing. She implements all company certifications and accreditations, is liaison with outside quality system auditing firms, and coordinates all audits and third party inspections.

Heather began at Behlen in 1994 and quickly became a vital team member.  She developed and implemented ISO 9000 quality systems at each regional plant.  She administers the Awareness Is Money productivity improvement program, is involved in the Wellness Committee and has co-chaired the Gainsharing Committee for 10 years.

During Heather’s tenure, Behlen became a two-time recipient of the prestigious Nebraska State Edgerton Quality Award and successfully pursued the Innovation in Manufacturing Award in 2009.
