Leah Curry
Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia, Inc.
Buffalo, WV

“Living in Indiana has exposed me to manufacturing for most of my life.  Manufacturing offers a variety of careers, with opportunities for development and advancement.  It profoundly impacts communities, providing them with steady employment opportunities, competitive wages and improved quality of life.  I have worked to promote careers in manufacturing.”

Over the course of her 32 years in manufacturing, Leah Curry has supported and helped to develop state and local programs that promote careers in manufacturing, and continues her efforts to change the perception of work in today’s modern factories.

For example, Ms. Curry has championed teacher interns who work summers at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana to help them develop high-school curriculums that equip students with skills needed in advanced manufacturing.  At the same time, she champions programs that bring students into the plant to open their eyes to manufacturing careers, including an internship program in skilled industrial maintenance.

Ms. Curry continues to promote manufacturing careers through her leadership in organizations such as Project Lead the Way, Southwest Indiana Network for Education, and Conexus Indiana Skill Pathway.  She also holds leadership positions and is actively involved in promoting business leadership for women, particularly in manufacturing.
Her participation in all of these initiatives gives Toyota Indiana input in local programs that create a trained workforce for manufacturing in Southwestern Indiana.
