Janet Zlomek
Director & Team Leader, Drug Product Operations
Pfizer Inc

“Manufacturing is the heart of a nation. It is fast paced, full of technical challenges and is always renewing itself to remain competitive. At Pfizer, we transform raw materials into lifesaving pharmaceutical products. Each day our team contributes to wellness.”

Janet possesses the broadest knowledge of finished pharmaceutical manufacturing within Pfizer. She moved up the company ladder decisively, working hard to climb from project manager and process automation team leader to her role now as director and Team Leader of Product Operations. Responsible for a large team which produces more than 600 different finished pharmaceutical products in more than 110 countries, Janet has sustained a globally competitive business and created more than 300 new manufacturing roles.

Instrumental in the implementation of process automation standards across all U.S. and Canadian plants, Janet has had the opportunity to collaborate globally to influence standards at Pfizer. She instituted capital master planning for the organization, developed compliance risk assessment tools and was able to secure substantial capital investment. She has been a key architect driving technical training transformation.

The organization Janet leads now has more than 700 workers, giving her numerous opportunities to mentor. She was the co-leader for a semester long elementary science club and a member of the Midwest Women’s Mentoring Team, which allowed her to spread developmental influence. She’s been personally responsible for the development of several colleagues and helped revitalize the intern program to connect students with practical, real world applications of science in an industrial manufacturing setting.

Janet is dedicated to the local community through participation in a wide variety of charitable organizations including the Great Lakes Burn Camp, Texas Township Fire Department, Texas Township Fire Auxiliary, Pretty Lake Vacation Camp, United Way and the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony. She is active in her church where she currently serves on the finance committee. Janet is a member of the STEM Education Advisory Board for the Boy Scouts of America, and she is the site sponsor of the Kalamazoo Making Strides for Breast Cancer fundraising team. That team successfully raised more than $15,000 per year for the last five years running.
