Lisa Vensel
GM, Manufacturing Planning
AK Steel Corporation

“I am passionate about manufacturing because of the opportunities presented as it includes all functional areas of business. Whether your interest is in personnel, machinery, sales, finance or products, manufacturing requires contributions from each and provides the opportunity for working collectively to solve problems and take advantage of opportunities.”

Lisa, AK Steel’s Manufacturing Planning General Manager, is directly responsible for managing production schedules which dictate when products are made and delivered to meet customer needs. As the most experienced female leader within the company’s manufacturing operations, her scope of responsibility spans eight sites and includes all carbon, electrical and stainless-steel products. Her ability to see the big picture and daily details simultaneously have been critical to timely operations and numerous strategic planning projects.

One of Lisa’s most exceptional abilities is the oversight of extremely complex operations. That experience and insight has come naturally as she rose through the ranks at AK Steel. She supervised several departments including Planning and Analysis, Quality Systems, and Electrical Scheduling before arriving at her current position. She also served on the board of one of AK Steel’s joint venture businesses, and is a member of the company’s Benefit Plans Asset Review Committee.

Previously, Lisa served as a board member and vice chair of the Butler County United Way in Pennsylvania. She volunteered for numerous AK Steel Founder’s Day work projects as well as fundraising events to support the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organizations in Western Pennsylvania.

Currently located in West Chester, Ohio, Lisa participates in and supports many nonprofit activities including United Way, ArtsWave, breast cancer awareness fundraising events, food drives and the American Heart Association’s Go Red events. For the past several years, she “adopted” a family for Christmas through the Clermont Educational Collaborative Angel Program. She is also a volunteer each year at the AK Steel Winter Wonderland holiday event for local children and adults with special needs.
