Anne Roman
Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company

“Manufacturing inspires me. There is nothing to equal the personal pride that people who craft products have for their work. Often, the mastery is in the tiny details, and in that way, manufacturing is an art. I am grateful to be a part of it every day.”

As Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs, Anne is dedicated to informing, inspiring and involving Cooper Tire employees around the world to support company goals and values. Thanks to her leadership, several intranet enhancements were put in place that improved communications and strengthened the skills of others. Anne was instrumental in developing a quarterly video program for employees around the world. Through that program, Cooper is building knowledge of performances and strategies while bridging cultural and regional differences.

Anne has been a vital force in building Cooper’s external reputation, focusing on technology and company advancements. For example, it was Anne who spread the word about Cooper’s work in sustainable alternative materials for tire production, which gained national publicity for the company and encouraged key stakeholders with its commitment to sustainability.

Though Anne’s communications team is small, they have achieved huge results and earned a Cooper Tire Chairman’s Award, the company’s highest honor, for their work in commemorating the company’s 100th anniversary. The team executed a year-long celebration which made employees and stakeholders feel proud to be a part of the company and its future.

Anne is also reaching out to other communities in exciting ways. She is a member of the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association’s (USTMA) public relations committee and recently served on a committee that launched a complete rebrand. In September 2017, Anne was part of USTMA’s Capitol Hill outreach, visiting legislative offices to stress the importance of tire manufacturing in the U.S. economy. Additionally, she is a leader of Cooper’s “Dream It. Do It.” program, which reaches 10,000 students each year.

Under Anne’s leadership, Cooper has focused its global philanthropy on a signature cause of tire safety. Anne’s team developed the “Tread Wisely” program to demonstrate tire safety in communities, deploy social media and partner with the National Organizations for Youth Safety. Thanks to Anne and her team, Cooper has reached hundreds of thousands of young drivers and educated them on tire safety.
