Cristina Munoz-Ojeda
Production Coordinator
The Dow Chemical Company

“Manufacturing opens the doors to design and innovate products that consistently improve our quality of life. It is very rewarding to be part of a team that continuously strives in solving problems. Manufacturing proves that anything is possible, we just need the right tools and creative minds to make it happen.”

As an effective communicator with superior decision making skills, Cristina makes a perfect fit for OXO Production Coordinator. During her career, Cristina has supported a $7 million capital project for the commissioning and start-up of new equipment providing millions of pounds of added capacity for industrial PEGs. In addition to hard production improvements, Cristina also created a strategic value case for the Ethoxylates Park Plant by leading value stream mapping exercises that have the potential to generate $18 million in value.

Through enthusiasm, creativity and technical aptitude, Cristina is a vital part of the Houston Hub Process Safety Containment Event team. She’s done an outstanding job of leading a team that impacts the entire hub. As a regular participant in the Hispanic Latin Network, Cristina was awarded with the Diversity Partnership Award thanks to her development of diversity strategies. She also recently became an internal event coach for “Propel to Excel” which introduces new Dow employees to the culture and values of the company. Through that event, she mentors new employees and maintains meetings with them after the program is over to offer further development advice.

Regularly giving back to the community, Cristina is a proud STEM Ambassador, participating in approximately 10 STEM events at local high schools. She has collaborated with Puentes, a non-profit organization for at-risk Latin American immigrants and their children in the greater New Orleans community. Cristina is heavily involved with the United Way Steering Team in both St. Charles and Texas City Operations. She’s participated in numerous volunteer events for United Way, promoting their work in the community. Cristina also volunteers through Dow at local food banks in New Orleans and Houston, and has participated in the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference, assisting Dow with recruitment and promotion.
