Brittany Kanz
Manager, Master Planning and Inventory
Aleris International Inc.

“I am passionate about manufacturing because it offers the opportunity to directly impact global industries and economies. Working at an aluminum manufacturer provides the unique opportunity to unlock the unlimited potential of aluminum in various industries. Manufacturing forces innovation amongst the supply chain and propels companies forward.”

Brittany helped to lead and flawlessly execute an unprecedented supply chain challenge following the expansion and modernization of Aleris’ largest facility. To prepare the facility to supply aluminum to the automotive sector, Aleris was required to pre-produce, ship and store 20 million pounds of coils in third party warehouses. During a most crucial time in the plant’s transformation, Brittany’s meticulous planning and steady leadership kept her co-workers calm and confident.

One of Brittany’s biggest strengths is her willingness to speak with expertise and confidence no matter the audience. She convincingly defends her positions and articulates impacts to the business well beyond her span of control. Two years ago, Brittany accepted a leadership role in Aleris’ North American logistics group which made her accountable for an entire network of products. Quickly and seamlessly, Brittany and her team coordinated movements of 50,000 annual shipments. The individual relationships she has built with her team have developed each employee in unique ways, showing her approachable style and natural leadership abilities.

Community relations has been an important part of Brittany’s work both inside and outside the company. In her personal time, she volunteers in the annual Willoughby Arts Festival in Willoughby, Ohio. She is a regular participant in the Aleris Rebuilding Days in Cleveland where the company engages national non-profits to improve lives within the community including home rebuild projects. Brittany is an active participant in Aleris’ support of the Cleveland Food Bank which provided more than 50 million meals to hungry residents in 2016. Brittany also plays a leadership role in the Aleris Corporate Challenge Competition which improves physical, mental and social wellness of employees while supporting local charities.
