Caroline Villa
Rotation Engineer
Johnson Controls International

"I am passionate about manufacturing because it transforms ideas into reality. It’s a team creating innovative solutions to produce the best products for our customers. Manufacturing is a challenging, fast paced, and hands on industry whose products make a real difference in the lives around us."

Caroline is one of those rare people who always looks beyond her role and responsibilities, to not only grow her skill set and experiences, but also find ways to help the broader organization and team. Caroline was the first ever JCI Power Solutions rotational engineer and was extremely effective in the role. Her ability to learn quickly and positive attitude towards taking on new tasks enabled her to exceed all expectations in each of the rotational assignments.

As a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) during her time in school, she saw firsthand that more could be done to get students inspired about a career in engineering. Caroline has been the inspiration for and has led the implementation of the N.E.X.T program (Network Educate eXpand Transform), a multi-university SWE collaboration intended to provide students with a real-life demonstration of the opportunities that engineering professions offer via speaker series, networking opportunities, and community outreach events. She has partnered with senior business and technical leaders across the entire JCI enterprise along with the SWE chapters of five universities in the Midwest to advance the N.E.X.T. Initiative.  Not only has she defined and managed the budget for the program, but she is also organizing and leading the entire program with the SWE chapters and Johnson Controls executives.

Caroline serves as a mentor to the students in the Johnson Controls product engineering summer internship program. She helps new recruits on their first day and coaches them throughout their internship on Johnson Controls business processes, project management skills, and presentation skills. As an emerging leader in the organization, she also advises senior level staff on how to coach college students to engage with leaders in the business world.
