Tamra Wolny
Master Black Belt
Ball Corporation
Broomfield, CO

"I designed a Visual Dashboard that would show the health of operations at our 12 North American manufacturing facilities for Ball Corporation's Food and Household Product Division. The result was a color coded interactive dashboard containing seven key metrics and the ability to drill from Division to plant to line.”

In her role as a master black belt in the Continuous Improvement Department within the Food and Household Products business for Ball, Tamra seeks to improve Ball’s performance from the manufacturing floor through the executive suite.  Tamra’s role in deploying Lean Six Sigma at Ball has dramatically changed the way Ball Food and Household Products business is managed and her influence is now spreading outside of her operating company and positively impacting Ball Corporation overall.

Tamra has taken a rather unusual path to her role, transitioning from IT consulting to the continuous improvement team.   She made the transition seamlessly through a combination of hard work and tenacity. She was able to quickly pick up on the key drivers for improving production and was a good listener. Her approach has always been to empower the teams on the manufacturing floor to be able to identify and solve problems directly.

Tamra brings tremendous energy, enthusiasm, and passion to her work to improve Ball’s manufacturing performance. Tamra has led an initiative to apply Lean Six Sigma principals to other areas of Ball Corporation including some of the corporate function, developing training materials and delivering the training herself to rave reviews.  Her intellect and passion are balanced by her calm demeanor and genuine interest in hearing the experiences and perspectives of employees. She is able to tailor her message to her audience, and is an effective coach and listener.
