Veronica Messersmith
Vice President, Sales Western US
Sandvik Coromant Company
Fair Lawn, NJ

“I am most proud of the
sales team my managers
and I have built and am so fortunate to lead. This extraordinary sales team has been the top selling zone six out of the last nine years."

Veronica has been instrumental in integrating the function of both inside and outside support to customers to provide a seamless solution array. Her previous experience in managing one of Sandvik's production units led to changes in how the company handled production administration, ultimately increasing customer satisfaction and production throughput, and making the facility a global competency center for production. She was the first woman to hold such a position in the U.S. organization and has continued on to a succession of “firsts.” Her successful efforts were ground-breaking in helping more women see the opportunities in manufacturing production and sales.

Veronica’s experience, knowledge, and credibility combined with her clear-sighted dedication to open new opportunities both for the company and for colleagues has led to a new generation of possibilities in recruitment and talent development.  She joined the organization in a manufacturing support role with a bachelors and a master’s degree from Texas A&M and was a pioneer as a non-traditional candidate for manufacturing management positions.

Veronica is uniquely gifted in her abilities to bring diverse groups of people together to achieve great things. She is focused on the larger goal of helping people achieve their career objectives, developing and applying their talents to generate solutions to manufacturing problems. This ability crosses disciplines and is hard to quantify except by the results that are evident in the success of the teams she leads. It is a combination of focus on a goal, the ability to understand how to get the best out of people, and the determination to have the entire team contribute in making a difference.
