Jessica Hinkle
Manufacturing Manager
Harris Corporation
Palm Bay, FL

"My role model is Stephen Covey, author of 'The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.' After reading this book in college, Covey's Seven Habits have formed the basis for how I've approached decisions as they've presented themselves both in my personal and professional life.”

Jessica has brought focus to driving down open failures and working with program management to scrap and re-plan where it is economically viable in her role as a manufacturing manager within the Government Communication Systems Division for Harris.  She is the on-site lead for the Harris' Business Excellence (HBX) initiative. HBX is a Lean/Six Sigma approach used to engage the workforce to identify and implement solutions to reduce costs and improve productivity and business performance. Last year, under Jessica's leadership, Malabar Operations completed 120 projects resulting in a cumulative savings of 1.2 million dollars and improving labor productivity.
Jessica continually seeks challenges to develop her knowledge and skills base.  In 2012, she rotated out of the manufacturing organization to support the upgrade of Harris' Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system for 12 months. She strengthened her understanding of the software systems required to effectively plan and execute production orders and simultaneously redirected her industrial engineering final project to evaluate the effectiveness of Harris' MRP system on dictating/controlling production activities on the manufacturing floor.
Jessica's energy, positive attitude, intelligence, and work ethic set the standard for other members within her peer group. Her decisions and leadership actions reflect maturity beyond her years, and she always focuses on the larger outcome.  Jessica has played a pivotal role in the development and execution of Malabar's six strategic objectives for FY14 and FY15, and due to her reliability and strong performance, she has gained the trust of her senior leadership.
