Mary McDonald
Operating Systems Manager
Ball Corporation

Rome, GA

“Whether it was packing the car for vacation (with 4 kids in tow) or sketching what he worked on for a curious child or making fine handmade furniture, my father has always been the consummate engineer. Growing up with him, it was almost pre-destined that I would work in manufacturing.”

Mary is a committed resource whose many talents were tapped across two significant roles over the past two years.  Recognized for both her interpersonal and technical process skills, Mary was asked to support efforts based both out of the corporate office and the Rome can plant.  Her dedication and thoroughness resulted in significant cost savings on two major projects.  Mary was required to be on the road for significant lengths of time over the course of the project, a demonstration of her dedication and loyalty to the company.  She is a charismatic leader who interacts easily with individuals from all departments and all levels.  Staff at each plant she visited embraced the opportunity to work with her, and expressed that they wished she was based at that location.

Mary also finds time to complement her work life with recreation and volunteerism.  She is an avid tennis player and runner, and volunteers regularly at  a local alzheimer’s facility with her 2 chihuahuas.  Management at Ball Corporation say that she is an asset who could perform well across a range of settings and responsibilities, an asset they consider to be an “MVP.”
