“Each product presents new challenges. It is rewarding and gratifying when I successfully trial a customer’s troublesome product to achieve their desired specifications, then scale up to production quantities and have the client return continuously. I am proud that I am an integral part of my employer’s successful business.”

Katharine (KT) was hired by Custom Processing Services directly after graduating from college and charged with starting a new segment of the business.  She effectively worked with management to understand strategic goals, and developed relationships with individuals throughout the organizations.  She assessed processes, established workflow, and instituted training to enable change. Gregory J. Shemanski, President/CEO and Founder of Custom Processing Services said, “KT took our small company and helped us more than triple our revenue, by interacting with customers, having an engineering based understanding of equipment and processes, and turning a cost center into a profit center. KT has a unique ability to understand the customers’ needs and turn them into a methodology to process their materials to the desired size, shape, color, density, etc., while making it commercially viable.” She has the engineering talent and a gift of application knowledge which coupled with an entrepreneurial mindset has benefitted Custom Processing Services.

Katharine is a member of the management team that was awarded the 2013 Governor’s Impact Awards in the “Small Business Impact Award” category. This award recognized Pennsylvania companies and entrepreneurs that are creating jobs and making positive contributions to the state’s economy.   She represents the company at the International Powder and Bulk Solids Conference and Exhibition, and is expanding her local outreach to the community via local TV, and in the high schools and colleges.  She exemplifies a spirit that would encourage women to follow what they enjoy doing.
