Dream It. Do It. is the national umbrella brand for driving manufacturing growth in regional economies. Twenty states are currently participating in Dream It. Do It. and their activities include:
- National manufacturing careers recruitment programs to engage, educate, and employ individuals in manufacturing;
- Economic development initiatives, fostering growth, innovation and jobs by building entrepreneurial, regional alliances and providing youth-oriented awareness and education initiatives designed to capture and prepare the next generation of skilled American manufacturing talent;
- Engagement tools that feed young students into educational and industry certification pathways aligned with career pathways in high-quality, high-paying jobs.
The core concepts that guide the Dream It. Do It. activities include:
- Provide a clear understanding of advanced, high-tech manufacturing and its contribution to innovation, productivity, economic growth, wealth building, and high-quality jobs;
- Promote a modern image of manufacturing aimed at 16-26 year olds, (their parents, and educators) and other demographics, that expels old stereotypes of manufacturing;
- Develop strong regional, cluster-oriented, pro-manufacturing partnerships among local business, political, education, and civic leaders, and economic developers;
- Offer dynamic and interactive career navigation resources, including web-based exploration tools and “personal touch” mentorship opportunities; and
- Serve as an initial channel to align educational pathways in post-secondary education with career pathways in manufacturing through the NAM-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System.
